After breakfast start for Haridwar by road. It is an ancient city in the state of Uttarakhand. The River Ganga, after flowing for 253 Km from its source, enters the Indo- Gangetic plains in North India through Haridwar. Haridwar is surrounded with various religious places and is a great destination for those who are interested in religion or those who come here to understand Hindu culture. Take the afternoon to visit Har Ki Pauri Ghat, which is the most holy Ghat in Haridwar. It is believed that this Ghat was built by King Vikramaditya in the 1st century b.c. and is one of the most ancient Ghats in India. People come here to take a dip in the River Ganga. Next you can visit Mansa Devi Temple situated on the peak of a hill. There are two Goddess idols which are of prime attraction here. One has eight arms and the other has five arms and three mouths. The other interesting places are Sapt Rishi Temple and Daksh Temple.
After Haridwar start your journey towards Rishikesh (24Km/ 1hr). Rishikesh is situated in the foothills of Himalayas and is popularly called Gateway to Garhwal Himalayas in North India. Rishikesh is one of the popular pilgrimage centres in India and is a home to centres of Hindu religious thoughts and spirituality. Visit Triveni Ghat believed to be the confluence of the rivers Ganga, Yamuna and Saraswati. Watch the Aarti ceremony here in the evening which is spectacular.
Start the day with a sumptuous breakfast and visit the famous bridge of Laxman Jhoola. It is a hanging bridge over River Ganga at the height of 70 feet with 450 feet length. It is a famous tourist spot because of its ancient origin, grand temples around it and the colourful local markets. Next visit Muni Ki Reti where the saints meditate among the sands. Also visit the Laxman Temple, Parmarth Niketan, Swargashram and Geeta Bhawan. By afternoon you shall start your journey back to New Delhi by road. Once you reach New Delhi, spend the night in the hotel.
