Post breakfast take a half day city tour of Mumbai. Mumbai is the capital city of Maharashtra. The city has a long coastline being situated on the coast of Arabian Sea. Initially Mumbai was a cluster of seven fishing islands. Under the British rule this area was developed majorly by reclamation of land from the sea and building of roads and railways. Finally in 1845 Mumbai or Bombay as it was known then became a major seaport on Arabian Sea.
With continuous educational and economic development Mumbai became the financial capital of India after Independence. The ever expanding film and television industry gives this city a touch of glamour. Visit Gateway of India constructed to commemorate King George V and Queen Mary near the famous Taj Hotel. Another place worth visiting is the Prince of Wales Museum famous for its architecture and important collection of art, archaeological and historical artefacts. In the afternoon visit Elephanta caves which is carved out of natural rocks. Sprawling 60,000 square feet area houses magnificent images of Lord Shiva. The 20 feet high three headed Shiva known as ‘Trimurti’ is splendid. Return back to Gordon House for the night
Reach the domestic airport for a flight to Ahmedabad. Upon reaching you will be taken to the hotel by our representative. It is a city of ancient heritage. It was built by Sultan Ahmad Shah in 1411 who ruled this city from where it gets its name. This city is associated with the freedom movement and the Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi. It is famous for its exquisite architecture and its deep rooted culture.
Afternoon will be engaged in sightseeing around Ahmedabad. Visit the shaking minarets or ‘Jhoolta Minar’ a part of Sidi Bashir Mosque. The construction of the minarets is such that if you apply little force to the upper arch, the whole structure tends to sway. Next will be Sidi Sayed Mosque with the windows covered with splendid mesh covering known as "Jali". The Bhadra Fort built in 1411 has magnificent palace, arches and balconies. On the eastern side of the fort lies "Teen Darwaza" , a major tourist attraction. Visit Sanskar Kendra, a museum designed by the architect Le Corbusier. The later part of the day is devoted to visiting the Sabarmati Ashram, the home of Mahatma Gandhi. It contains archive of letters written by Gandhiji. It also has many portraits, films, manuscripts etc. Come back to the hotel and stay overnight.
After breakfast start for Wankaner by road. En-route you will visit Lothal and Rajkot. Walking around Lothal you will be able to see the visible structures that suggest how advanced the people were during Harappan Civilization while building the cities. Museum at Lothal displays red ware, ceramic potteries and jewelleries etc. of this ancient civilization. The most amazing example of ancient construction skill and technology is the Dockyard in Lothal which is the oldest in the world. Rajkot is a picturesque city founded in 1612. Gandhiji spent his early years in this city. It possesses one of the largest gold markets in the world. Reach Wankaner and check into the hotel Royal Oasis. Stay the night in the hotel.
Have breakfast in the hotel and then begin your journey towards Sasangir. Check into the Lion Safari Camp after reaching and spend the night.
The morning and the afternoon will be devoted to a visit to the Gir National Park. It is spread over an area of 1,412 Km. The wildlife sanctuary is covered with deciduous forest and numerous streams flow through it. Among the wilderness roams the king of the jungles- Asiatic Lion. Outside Africa, Gir Wildlife Sanctuary is the only place where this lion is found and is a protected species. There are many other animals like nilgai, leopard and spotted deer antelope etc. found here. There are countless bird species found in this sanctuary. The lake of Kamleshwar Dam consists of Marsh Crocodile too. Stay the night at the Lion Safari Camp.
After breakfast drive to Palitana. Upon reaching Palitana check into the hotel Vijay Vilas Palace and stay the night there.
Palitana in Gujarat is located at the foothills of Shatrunjaya Hills. It is a pilgrimage town famous for its Jain Temples. There are 869 temples on the hilltop belonging to Jain sect. The followers from all over the world come here to offer their prayers. The visitors have to climb about 3,950 steps to reach the Temples. Therefore one can hire a palanquin to travel to the top. Apart from the religious importance the temples are a fine example of architectural accomplishment. There are Sampriti Raj temple, Vimal Shah temple, Shri Adishwara temple to name a few. After the visit to the temples drive to Bhavnagar. Stay the night at Nilambagh Palace.
Have breakfast at the hotel and get to the airport to catch a flight back to Mumbai. Upon arrival you will be met at the airport by our representative to take you to Gordon House where you will stay the night. You can spend the rest of the day at leisure.
Have breakfast at the hotel. Post breakfast our representative will assist you to get transferred to the International airport for a flight back home.
